A Spooktacular Rutland Tradition Returns

Get your costumes ready! One of Rutland’s most beloved traditions returns to downtown for the 65th Annual Rutland Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

For generations, the Halloween Parade has brought the community together for an evening filled with imaginative costumes, elaborate floats, marching groups, music, and plenty of Halloween spirit. This year’s theme is once again simply “Halloween,” giving participating groups plenty of room to let their creativity run wild.

Whether you’re marching in the parade or finding the perfect spot downtown to watch the festivities, this annual celebration is a fun way for the whole family to get into the Halloween spirit.

Participants will begin lining up between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, depending on their assigned placement in the parade.

Spectators should plan to arrive early, as downtown street closures are expected to begin around 4:45 PM and remain in place until approximately 8:30 PM.

The Parade Route

The parade begins around Madison Street and Strongs Avenue before making its way to Wales Street. From there, the procession turns onto West Street and then Merchants Row before ending at the plaza.

Spectators should be aware that parking will be limited along portions of the parade route, including Wales Street, West Street, Strong Avenue, and Merchants Row.

Community groups, organizations, businesses, marching bands, and other participants are invited to get creative and join the festivities.

All entries must be fully decorated in the Halloween spirit, and organizers encourage participants to create entries that are imaginative, artistic, and entertaining.

Awards are presented in several categories, including Most Original, Best in Parade, Most Creative, Best Costumed Marching Band, Best Costumed Marching Unit, and more.
