Lake Bomoseen
I mean, come on, we’re from here. We’d rather be mocked for putting it #1 rather than facing the backlash if we didn’t. But it’s also because we love it. “Bomo” is 9 miles long in the small Vermont college town of Castleton. Boat, water ski, wakeboard, drop anchor in the middle to swim, or pull up the “sandbar” and chill with your boating buddies. It doesn’t matter. Bomo isn’t just spectacular, it’s home.
Lake Champlain
It has its own mythological sea creature, “Champ”, need we say more? No worries, we will. 125 miles long and 14 miles wide. Nestled between the Adirondacks of New York and the Green Mountains of Vermont, Lake Champlain is a boating Nirvana. With expansive waterways, tucked away bays, sandy shores, and hidden places to anchor down; just try and think of a reason why not to go there. We’ll wait…
Caspian Lake
You ever wanted to just get away for the weekend with nothing but your family, boat, fishing poles, and simply chill? This 6-mile long lake located in Greensboro is exactly what the doctor prescribed. Rent a cottage, go out for the day, fish, relax and create some unforgettable family memories, wash, rinse, repeat.
Lake St. Catherine
This 5-mile long lake in Poultney/Wells is when your friend says, “know any good fishing?” You go to Lake St. Catherine. Unless you don’t feel like fishing for both warm and cold-water fish. And of course, you wouldn’t want to do battle with a 13-pound pike in waters up to 70 feet deep. No, why would you want to do that?
Lake Willoughby
There is no reason in particular why we placed them number 5. Actually, there is no particular order, except for #1 of course. But Willoughby is a breathtaking 5-mile-long lake and one mile wide in Westmore. In the shadows of Mouth Pisgah, Mount Hor, and Bartlett Mountain, you can relax at their public beach or cruise around to the southern portion of the lake and check out the popular diving spot Devils Rock. After that, you must see the natural waterslides on the eastern portion.
